100% non-flammable ETICS

The non-flammable, all-mineral ETICS by Multipor belongs to construction material class A. In the event of fire, no toxic gases or smoke are generated. In fact, the mineral raw materials are fire-retardant.

Furthermore, the components of the Multipor mineral insulation sheet prevent the growth of algae and fungi on the facade. The ETIC system is completely vapor-permeable and therefore immediately removes water - needed for the growth of algae and fungi - thus preventing the growth of algae on the facade insulation. This effect is magnified by the heat and moisture storage capacity. The Multipor external thermal insulation composite system does not use any harmful biocides or toxins.

The ETIC system is massive, dimensionally stable, and woodpecker-proof. For the woodpecker, a facade insulated with Multipor looks like a massive wall, making it uninteresting for nesting or foraging purposes.

ETICS with built-in sound insulation

The Multipor external thermal insulation composite system also contributes to sound insulation. In the case of residential buildings, the exterior noise input should be kept as low as possible. Traffic noise is in the low frequency range and is perceived as extremely unpleasant. An exterior wall insulated by Multipor ETICS helps to counteract this. Depending on the exterior wall construction, the sound reduction index (a relevant value for the sound insulation certificate) of an exterior wall is increased by up to 2db. This makes Multipor one of the best insulation systems and a significant improvement to the quality of housing.

 

NEW: Multipor plinth insulation board

The Multipor composite thermal insulation systems is completed by the Multipor plinth insulation board. Equipped with all the features of a Multipor insulation board, it ensures that a uniform ETICS can be installed from the base to the roof.  The addition of fire barriers is not necessary in this case.

Ecological and sustainable: From production to recycling

The Multipor external thermal insulation composite system is sustainable and has received numerous awards for being environmentally friendly. The natureplus ecolabel, which is known for its high ecological standards, as well as the environmental declaration of the Institute of Construction and Environment, e.v., are a testament to the proven environmental and user friendliness of the Multipor mineral insulation boards, which consist purely of lime, sand, cement, and water. Single-origin remnants of Multipor mineral insulation boards can also be reintroduced into the production cycle, thus reusing rather than discarding them.

Planning and processing ETICS

The Multipor external thermal insulation composite system can be processed simply, rapidly, and securely. The Multipor mineral insulation boards are lightweight, can be cut by handsaw, and are free of fibers and toxic substances. Even challenging building geometries such as curves can be simply formed with a Multipor external thermal insulation composite system.

FAQ External thermal insulation composite system ETICS

  • What are the benefits of Multipor ETICS?

    The all-mineral Multipor ETICS is a Class A non-flammable building material. Even at the very highest temperatures, toxic gases, smoke, or dripping will not occur. The use of fire barriers is not required.

    Surface moisture leads to microbial infestation. In the case of Multipor ETICS, the moisture does not form in the first place. Rapid drying, high heat storage capacity and water absorbency prevent the growth of fungi and algae –  without the use of any biocides.

    Multipor has been granted an environmental award by natureplus as well as an IBU declaration of the highest standard, A+, by the eco-Institute. Multipor mineral insulation boards are massive, dimensionally stable, and easy to process. They are woodpecker-proof, and rodents will also fail to gnaw through the massive insulation material.

  • How has Multipor ETICS been approved?

    Multipor ETICS holds the European Technical Assessment ETA 14/0476.

  • How does Multipor ETICS react to fire? Is the addition of fire barriers required?

    The Multipor mineral insulation board corresponds to building material Class A1 according to DIN EN 13501-1. Multipor ETICS corresponds to building material Class A2-s1 d0. Multipor does not burn, smolder, or smoke. The addition of fire barriers is not necessary.

  • What are the substrate requirements for Multipor ETICS?

    The substrate must be load-bearing, even, dry, and free of any adhesion-reducing residue. Multipor mineral insulation boards can be bonded to concrete or brick walls. Existing plaster finishes must be loadbearing. Extremely absorbent or sandy substrates must be fixed with a suitable primer.

  • How is Multipor ETICS bonded?

    The Multipor mineral insulation board EIFS is bonded with Multipor lightweight mortar. The Multipor lightweight mortar is spread over the entire rear surface of the board with a suitable   In case of uneven surfaces >5 mm (to 10 mm) the Multipor mineral insulation boards EIFS can also be bonded by buttering/floating or the edge bead point process, with a minimum of 70% adherent surface.
    Bonding with other mortars is not permissible.

  • Does Multipor ETICS need to be anchored?

    According to general building authority approval Z.33.43-596, in addition to bonding, Multipor mineral insulation boards used in ETICS must be anchored by Multipor screw anchors. The exact amount of screw anchors required per m² is determined by wind load calculation (min. 4.3 anchors/m²). Knock-in anchors may not be used.

  • Which finishing plasters for Multipor ETICS are available in the Multipor product line?

    •    Mineral finishing plasters (grain strength 0-2 mm and 0-3 mm)
    •    Silicate finishing plasters (grain strength 0-2 mm and 0-3 mm)
    •    Silicone resin finishing plasters (grain strength 0-2 mm and 0-3 mm)

  • Which paints can be applied to Multipor ETICS?

    The following paints can be applied to Multipor ETICS:

    • Mineral paints
    • Breathable silicate paints

    As with the finishing plasters, the lightness value must be ≥ 30. For a good surface finish, we recommend Multipor silicate facade paint.

  • How can heavy loads be fixed to the Multipor ETICS?

    Heavy loads, as well as all mobile and dynamic loads, must be fastened in the substrate. For this purpose, we recommend something like the thermally separated heavy-duty anchor Thermax by the Fisher company.

  • How can loads such as mailboxes or lamps be fixed to the Multipor ETICS?

    The Multipor pressure distribution plate is made for this. It is suitable for objects that exert pressure on the wall after mounting.
    Lamps, motion sensors and other devices up to 5 kg can also be fastened using the Multipor telescope device carrier. This is mounted on the load-bearing substrate, prior to insulation. The integrated cable duct allows for an easy, safe connection to the power line.

  • How is a window connection handled by the Multipor ETICS?

    Multipor mineral insulation boards can be connected to the window frame using a suitable window connection profile. Further information can be found in our current insulation manual, and our download area includes the corresponding design drawings.

  • How are outside corners handled by the Multipor ETICS?

    Outside corners can be formed with mesh corner angles. These need to be combined with Multipor reinforcement mesh prior to applying the surface reinforcement.

  • What needs to be considered for expansion joints?

    Expansion joints from the load-bearing substrate should be incorporated into the insulation layer. Expansion joints that have formed should be sealed with an appropriate expansion joint profile and sealing tape. You'll suitable design examples here

  • Can curves be executed in a Multipor ETICS?

    The Multipor mineral insulation board can be cut to fit and sanded, simply, precisely and without any effort. Adjustments to existing building geometry can be achieved without a problem. For example, the Multipor mineral insulation board can be cut into smaller segments and then adapted to the radii of existing layouts.

  • How is a base equipped with Multipor insulation boards?

    A base insulation is possible using Multipor base insulation boards. The base insulation boards must be covered on all sides by Multipor waterproofing slurry, then bonded to the substrate over the entire surface. After fastening with Multipor screw anchors (1 anchor per board), the boards are reinforced using Multipor waterproofing slurry and reinforcement mesh, then Multipor lightweight mortar is applied as a finishing plaster.

  • Can Multipor ETICS be applied in a double layer?

    According to the general building authority approval Z.33.43-596, Multipor mineral insulation boards EIFS as of 120 mm board thickness can be applied in a double layer. When double-layering, the thinner or equal insulation board should be mounted directly to the wall. Only the first insulation layer is fastened with Multipor screw anchors.
